Going to the ER? Here's how to make it easier

What to bring

  • Health card (OHIP)
  • A list of your medications
  • Phone + charger
  • Water
  • A support person, if you can

What triage means

You're seen by how urgent your condition is, not first-come-first-served — someone who arrives after you may be seen first if they're sicker. It's not a queue.

Getting there

Plan for parking.

Call 911 now if you have:

  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Signs of a stroke (face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech)
  • Severe trouble breathing
  • Heavy bleeding that won't stop
  • A severe allergic reaction
  • Thoughts of harming yourself
